Declare July 28 US Adoptee Equal Rights Day

Please sign the petition to declare July 28 National Adoptee Rights Day in the US. We hope to help draw attention to a little known civil rights violation: adopted citizens are routinely denied access to their own birth certificates in most US states.

and please pass the word...

Stories of Adoption Searches and Reunions: Call for Submissions

Short or long,
it doesn't matter.
If it comes from experience,
from the heart,
and will help others,
that's what
we are looking for...

Pieces of Reunion
Adoptees, first parents, and adoptive parents share their stories

Call for Submissions
deadline 10/1/2010

EMK Press, a leader in innovative publications and resources for people affected by adoption, is working to create a new book that takes a look at adoption reunion from all sides of the triad: Adoptee, First Parent, and Adoptive Parent. Anticipation

By Tammy Rice

Bubbling excitement just below the surface,
Possibilities trying to push through,
Up from the depths,
Out towards the light,
Like the first daffodil of Spring.

All it takes is the smallest of openings,
Unseen to the naked eye,
But felt deep in the heart,
Setting in perfect harmonious motion,
The magical coming together of mind, body, and spirit.

The path is not planned out,
It unfolds, slowly, one step at a time,
through both obvious and discrete developments,
requiring an open mind, yet quiet vigilance,
so a turn is not missed, or a hidden treasure unfound.

Aahhh. . . the anticipation of the journey,
No expectations, no disappointments,
Just pure and simple delight of what lies ahead,
Around the next bend, over the horizon,
The true joy of being, in the moment, now, today.
